About us

History

Taybus Vintage Vehicle Society was formed in 1995 by a group of Tayside Public Transport Company employees to look after the company’s preserved Daimler CVG6 184 (ETS 964). The Society was based initially at the firm’s East Dock Street depot in Dundee, but when Travel Dundee redeveloped the site in 2000 spare space was reduced and the Society moved out. Initially, space was provided outside at G&N Wishart’s depot at Friockheim, then in 2002 the Society signed a lease on premises in Arbroath, where it remains today.

The shed contains storage space for spare parts and memorabilia, as well as (just about) enough space for the Society’s vehicles!

Although the Society was formed in order to care for just one vehicle, it has grown into an organisation that owns a number of buses, and whose members own several others. The Society also owns a significat amount of memorabilia, particularly relating to buses in Dundee. As well as outings to rallies and other events during the summer, other outings and social events for members are organised occasionally, and there is an annual meal at Christmas.
